LTO Ultrium Tape Drives
Over the last few years, LTO technology for tape drives (LTO = Linear Tape Open) has established itself as the leading recording technology and delivers a maximum native capacity of 2.5 Terabytes per LTO data cartridge with an average, uncompressed data recording speed of more than 500 GB per hour. Intelligent data compression algorithms (ALDC) increase the average total capacity to 6.25 Terabytes per data cartridge in standard system environments.
LTO tape drives are recommended for data backups for smaller networks, single servers or workstations via an SAS interface. Optionally available for Windows and Linux environments, backup and restore software is used for data transfer and management on media.
LTO-5 and LTO-6 tape drives from HP support the new Linear Tape File System (LTFS). This standardised file system for tape drives allows files in Windows and Linux environments to be managed similar to files on a hard drive. The add-on driver required to integrate into Windows or Linux server operating systems is provided.
Our range of tape drives is completed with the EXPRESS EXCHANGE service which can be ordered with an optional 5-year extension.
